Course Outline:

This course is designed for anyone who is new to Goldwork and would like to start learning the many skills involved in Goldwork in a supported environment.

Firstly this class will show you how to prepare your artwork for gold work embroidery with the traditional prick and pounce technique. After this preparation you will be shown edging stitches with Pearle Purl and be filling this area with bright check chips.

Next the part of the course will teach you your first raising technique, “Pad Raising”. After edging your area (which you will of course mastered by now:)!) you will cover this pad raising with “couched” Japanese threads.

Towards the end of the week will teach you the most difficult of the beginners techniques Bump Raisings and cut work. After preparing and edging your area you will be taught how to fill the area with graduated bump raising and then instructed in cutwork.

This course will run over 5 days in our working studio from 10am- 4pm with a 30 min break. The course includes both teaching time and time to practise whilst supervised to get the most out of the course. Please book your course at least 1 week in advance online through our store.
