This outcome for your embroidery is a great use of any piece that is small (maybe 7cm wide max) and is not washable (so you might not want to put it on clothing). Scissor charms are so cute and a lovely way to remind yourself of the beautiful things you have made whilst you make then next gorgeous thing!
1. Take your embroidery and cut yourself a border around the design of about 1cm.
2. If you want to pad your charm to make it 3D and give it a bit more support, you can cut some felt circles of decreasing size (we’ve got 3 pads here). You will also need a felt circle the same size as your finished embroidery (not including the 1cm border) to act as the back.
3. Stitch all the felt pads together to the matching their centres using a running stitch.
4. Cut into the border of the embroidery piece at 7-10mm. Place the pads into the centre of the back of the embroidery piece. Fold each tab inwards and stitch down into the pads to hold everything in placed using little straight stitches. Each tab should overlap the ones next to it is they look tidy and smooth on the back. Increase frequency of the cuts between the tabs if when you fold them in, they doesn’t give you a smooth curved edge.
5. Add your ribbon on choice stitched into the back of the embroidery piece.
6. Stitch the back piece of felt over your workings using a whipped stitch at approx 3mm frequency.
