Today on Youtube we are sharing a bit more of an unusual one for us, we wanted to show you how you can use one of our beautiful online class embroidery techniques for something practical. Lace applique is a great techniques to use as a way to level up and repair damaged fabrics. Not only does it allows you to do a lasting repair to the damage, but covers the damage in a gorgeous way that hopefully will enhance the piece even more.
We had a top that met with an ironing related accident. You can clearly see the stream holes from the iron plate where it scorched the fabric. Using lace applique we will bring together several different elements from the designs within the Lace to make a stunning shape with the Lace that will cover over the odd shape of that mark.
In this video we will take you along through all the stitching we did for this project. (Some sections are sped up for your viewing pleasure)
I feels great to be able to use embroidery to bring back a piece that would have otherwise been ruined to be something more beautiful after the repair. Anything we can do to reduce our waste, slow fashion down while practicing crafts has got to be a good thing.
We hope you enjoy this video and perhaps it provides you with a little inspiration to salvage some of your own damaged or worn prevent with this method.
