New year, new skills

Happy New Year from London Embroidery school, what a better way to start 2018 on with a bang, then to pick up a new skill!

throughout January we are holding lots of exciting classes, including a brand new class showing the skills and techniques for Jacobean Crewelwork. This day class you will learn many different types of hand embroidery stitches. You will work towards creating a fun pelican design. You may not complete the whole design in the class, however you will come away with all the skills to finish at home!

The course includes equipment for you to take away, a Table frame and selection of needles.

This graphic heritage technique dating from the 17th Century has a decidedly modern feel.  Our lovely pelican class will cover a wide range of stitches including

  • Split stitch
  • Heavy chain stitch
  • Trellis stitch
  • Raised stem band stitch
  • Button hole stitch
  • Satin stitch
  • Whipped wheel stitch
  • and last by no means least …. everyones favourite french knots!

we found some truly gorgeous examples of crewelwork to hopefully inspire you.
